President Donald Trump's name will be removed from the Kennedy Center's buildings and materials by June 12, following a federal judge's decision that the institution's board violated the law when it decided to rename the center in his honor.
US District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the board had exceeded its authority, stating that Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it.
The court concluded that while the board oversees operations and planning, it does not have unilateral authority to alter the institution's congressionally established name.
The decision comes as Trump's net approval rating drops to its lowest position ever, per a poll by The Economist, with a -25 net approval rating, making him the most unpopular president since the survey started in 2009.
