A US-Iran diplomatic breakthrough is raising hopes of easing tensions across West Asia, but the agreement is already facing resistance from Israel.
The United States and Iran have agreed to a memorandum of understanding that calls for an immediate halt to missile strikes, including Israel's continued bombardment in Lebanon.
The document is expected to be signed in Switzerland on June 19, marking a significant step towards a more comprehensive agreement.
Under the framework, Washington and Tehran will enter a 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final deal.
Israel has sharply criticized the deal, with finance minister Bezalel Smotrich calling it "bad for Israel and the entire free world."
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both sides had agreed to permanently terminate military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
