Evacuations have been mandated in Tooele County due to the rapidly expanding Maple Peak Fire and Cherry Fire, which have merged into a single blaze consuming approximately 20,000 acres.

The affected areas include Vernon Reservoir and Lofgreen, with residents of Eureka, Mammoth, and Silver City required to evacuate immediately.

A shelter has been set up at the Elberta church, and residents are advised to head eastbound on Highway 6.

Certain areas are under a 'GO' status, prompting evacuees to proceed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vernon, designated as an evacuation center.

Highway 36 has been closed at the intersection with Highway 6 and the Juab/Tooele County Line due to the 'Highway Fire' burning near the southwest side of SR-36.

Utah County has declared a state of emergency due to the severe wildfires in the region and the elevated risk of fire.
