Arunachal CM Boosts Dorjee Khandu Scholarship to ₹5 Lakh, Unveils New College Blocks in Tawang

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has taken a significant step to promote academic excellence in the state by increasing the Dorjee Khandu merit scholarship to ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh for the first, second, and third positions respectively. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the new academic and administrative blocks at the Dorjee Khandu government college in Tawang. The chief minister, who instituted the scholarship in memory of his father, said it's a way to encourage students to strive for academic excellence and honor Karamveer Dorjee Khandu's legacy. Khandu praised the college for its remarkable growth since its establishment in 2016, transforming it into one of the state's most disciplined and result-oriented institutions. The new infrastructure is a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of leaders and thinkers from Arunachal Pradesh. Khandu highlighted the state's commitment to the National Education Policy 2020, which aims to ensure access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability in education. The state is implementing the reforms to strengthen all educational institutions. The chief minister also assured the college principal that the process for sanctioning additional faculty and ministerial staff is underway. He directed the Tawang deputy commissioner to coordinate with the principal on the procurement of furniture, boundary demarcation, and issuance of a land allotment certificate. Khandu also proposed developing a dedicated playground for the college near the Tawang Stadium. In his address, Khandu emphasized the importance of discipline, urging students to maintain it beyond the campus and throughout their professional journey. He expressed pride over the college's academic record, noting that it has maintained over 95 per cent pass percentage, with 100 per cent results in the last two academic sessions. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Advisor Mutchu Mithi, MLAs, and Education commissioner Amjad Tak.
