AICC secretary Suraj Hegde, aged 55, died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Karnataka.
He was a grandson of former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs and served as AICC functionary, KPCC Vice-President, and Vice-Chairman of the State Guarantee Committee.
Chief Minister D K Shivakumar condoled Hegde's death, calling him an active leader with unparalleled organisational acumen and public concern.
State Congress president B K Hariprasad termed Hegde's death as a big loss to the state and the Congress party.
