The flood situation in several parts of Uttar Pradesh remains serious as major rivers continue to flow above or close to their danger levels. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is currently in Chitrakoot district to review the flood situation, rescue operations and relief measures being undertaken for affected residents.
The Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Badaun, Ghazipur and Ballia, while the river has reached close to the danger level in Farrukhabad. The Sharda River has crossed the danger mark in parts of Lakhimpur Kheri and Barabanki. Meanwhile, the Ghaghra River is above the danger level in Ayodhya and at Turtipar in Ballia.
The Yamuna River is also continuing to rise in Rajapur, Chitrakoot, raising concerns among residents in low-lying areas.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas along the Varuna River in Varanasi. He also visited a flood relief camp, interacted with affected people and distributed relief materials.
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in eastern Uttar Pradesh over the next four days and in western districts during the next two days, which could further intensify the flood situation.
