A high school student in Gurugram was shot in the neck by a classmate using a licensed pistol in a rented flat on Saturday night. The 17-year-old victim remains in critical condition at a private hospital. According to the police, an altercation occurred among three classmates at the flat in Sector 48. One of them allegedly used the pistol to shoot the other, sparking a police investigation. The police have registered an FIR and apprehended two minor students in connection with the case. During a search of the flat, they recovered a pistol, magazines, cartridges, and a bullet shell. The victim's mother filed a complaint stating that her son had an altercation with the accused two months ago, which led to a grudge. On the night of the incident, the accused invited the victim to meet and, after picking up another friend, went to the flat where the shooting took place. The police said the accused's father, a property dealer, owns the licensed pistol, which was kept at the house. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police have confirmed that all three students are in class 11 at the same school. The incident highlights concerns about access to firearms and the potential consequences of unresolved conflicts among young people.
