India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed the country's readiness for any potential scenario, amidst concerns over Pakistan's alleged nuclear testing. Singh's comments came in response to US President Donald Trump's claim that Pakistan has been secretly conducting nuclear tests. The Defence Minister stated that India cannot prevent Pakistan from conducting nuclear tests, but emphasized that New Delhi is prepared for any eventuality. When asked if India would follow suit if Pakistan were to conduct a nuclear test, Singh replied, “Let’s first see if they do it.” This development follows US President Trump's announcement that the US would resume nuclear weapons testing after a 30-year hiatus, citing the actions of other countries. Trump specifically mentioned Pakistan as an example, claiming that Islamabad continues to carry out nuclear tests. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs had previously responded to Trump's statement, calling Pakistan's nuclear record ‘clandestine and illegal.' Pakistan, however, has dismissed Trump's assertion, maintaining a ‘unilateral moratorium' on nuclear testing and reaffirming its commitment to restraint. It's worth noting that Pakistan is not a signatory to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), which aims to ban all nuclear explosions. Despite this, Islamabad has insisted that it will not be the first to resume nuclear testing.
