Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is bracing for a severe heatwave as the IMD issues an orange alert warning of extreme temperatures and high humidity. The heatwave is expected to intensify across the state, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 41°C in Palakkad and 40°C in Kollam and Thrissur.

Authorities have urged extreme caution, with the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority issuing strict guidelines for schools and educational institutions. Vacation classes, camps, and student activities have been suspended, and exam-related activities will only continue with proper safeguards in place.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has advised people to exercise extreme caution, avoid direct sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm, and stay hydrated. He has also called for ensuring drinking water and shade for animals and setting up public drinking water facilities.

People experiencing symptoms of heatstroke are advised to seek immediate medical attention, while bystanders are urged to assist affected individuals by moving them to shaded areas and helping cool their bodies.
