Legacy of Love: Sathya Sai Baba's Charitable Projects Continue to Transform Lives

Fifty years after his passing, the selfless legacy of Sathya Sai Baba lives on through his pioneering charitable projects in education, healthcare, and social service. The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, and Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Supply Projects, among others, have become beacons of hope for millions worldwide. These world-class institutions, created by Baba's mother, Easwaramma's, three wishes, have been carrying forward his vision of providing free quality education and healthcare to all. R J Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, revealed that the trust is committed to continuing Baba's missions, including free education and medical treatment, as per his directions. One of the recent initiatives is the provision of energy drinks to 34 lakh students across 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh, covering 45,000 schools. The trust is also upgrading its services, including the introduction of robotic heart surgery at no cost. Dr Anil Kumar Mulpur, Joint Director and Head of Cardiac Surgery, proudly stated that the hospital at Puttaparthi is the first in the world to offer free robotic heart surgery. The Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Supply Projects, which covered 1,621 villages and 2,800-3,000 km of pipelines, is being maintained by the government. Another notable outreach programme is the Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital, which offers diagnostic services, minor surgeries, and dental procedures to rural people. Rathnakar emphasized that the foundation laid by Baba was firm and on solid ground, enabling the trust to carry forward his missions with the support of his followers and devotees. The trust has also built a corpus to fund programmes and service initiatives, with a corpus of thousands of crores, generating interest to support its endeavours. Since Baba's passing in 2011, the trust has added nearly ₹800 crore to ₹1,000 crore to the corpus, apart from spending ₹1,500 to ₹1,800 crores on regular works. This dedication to Baba's legacy has transformed lives and will continue to do so, as the trust strives to strengthen and expand its services.
