In a recent address to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the organization, emphasized the need for unity among Hindus in the face of caste divisions. Speaking in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Bhagwat attributed caste divisions to politics, stating that politicians often exploit these differences to gain support. He urged Hindus to resist such divisions and instead focus on their shared national identity. Bhagwat's comments come at a time when caste is playing a significant role in the ongoing assembly election in Bihar, a state ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. The BJP has positioned itself as a party that transcends caste divisions, countering the social justice narrative of its opponents. The RSS chief emphasized that his organization has been working towards eradicating caste divisions since its inception in 1925. Critics, however, argue that the RSS seeks to downplay caste by promoting a Hindu nationalist vision. Looking ahead, Bhagwat outlined the RSS's vision for the next two decades, which includes uniting and organizing the Hindu society to create a prosperous and strong India that can impart dharma knowledge to the world. The RSS is working towards this vision, which it believes will ultimately lead to a happy, blissful, and peaceful world.
