Nitish Kumar is set to take oath as Bihar's chief minister for the tenth time, a record that surpasses any other in India. His unconventional politics has led to this uncharted territory. Kumar's first stint as chief minister was short-lived, lasting only seven days in 2000. He regained the top spot after the 2005 and 2010 assembly elections, but lost it after the 2014 polls. However, he managed to reclaim the position in 2015, marking his fourth time taking the oath. Following a series of alliances and switches, Nitish took oath as chief minister in 2020, as part of the JD(U)-RJD-Congress alliance and later as the leader of the NDA. With his latest switch to the NDA in 2024, he has cemented his place in history with nine chief minister oaths. Kumar's tenure as chief minister has seen him spend 7023 days in office, ranking him eighth in the country. If he completes his full term, he would become the third longest-serving chief minister, behind Pawan Kumar Chamling and Naveen Patnaik. Additionally, Nitish has seen 14 governors during his tenure, making him one of the chief ministers who have seen the most governors in their term.
