PM Modi Stresses Ease of Justice as Key to Ease of Living in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasized the importance of ensuring ease of justice in India, stating that it is a crucial factor in achieving ease of doing business and ease of living. The Prime Minister inaugurated the National Conference on Strengthening Legal Aid Delivery Mechanisms at the Supreme Court, highlighting the vital role of legal aid in making justice accessible to all citizens. He noted that initiatives such as Lok Adalats and pre-litigation settlements have resolved millions of disputes quickly and at low cost, resulting in justice for marginalized communities. Modi also praised the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System, which has resolved nearly 800,000 criminal cases in just three years. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to further streamlining the justice system, leveraging technology, and promoting mediation to ensure timely and accessible justice for all, regardless of social or financial background. He also launched the Community Mediation Training Module prepared by the National Legal Services Authority, which will be a key focus of the two-day conference. The event will deliberate on key aspects of the legal services framework, including the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System, panel lawyers, and financial management of legal services institutions.
