Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of 'ease of justice' in achieving equity and social justice. Speaking at the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) event, he underscored that timely and accessible justice must be available to all, regardless of their economic or social background. Modi highlighted the government's efforts to enhance 'ease of justice' over the past eleven years. These include improving regulatory conditions, simplifying governance, and implementing historic criminal law reforms. He cited the removal of over 40,000 compliance requirements, decriminalisation of over 3,400 legal provisions, and repeal of over 1,500 obsolete laws. The PM also launched NALSA's Community Mediation Training Module, which aims to promote mediation as a means of resolving disputes and strengthening social harmony. He emphasized the role of technology in widening access to justice, including the eCourts project, expansion of video-conferencing, and digitisation of filing and summons systems. Modi stressed the need for legal awareness and literacy among vulnerable groups, including women, senior citizens, and marginalized communities. He encouraged law students to engage with rural communities and low-income groups to explain legal processes in simple terms and bring legal knowledge to every doorstep. The Prime Minister called for a collective vision for a 'developed India' where legal institutions, law colleges, self-help groups, and grassroots governance structures work together to expand legal awareness and strengthen confidence in the justice delivery system.
