Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the closing ceremony of Sikkim's 50th Year of Statehood celebrations at Paljor Stadium today. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Governor of Sikkim Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, state ministers, and Members of Parliament.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore across the state. These projects are aimed at accelerating holistic and inclusive development in Sikkim, covering sectors such as infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, power, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture.
Among the key projects, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 100-bedded Ayurveda hospital at Yangang in Namchi district. This hospital will provide world-class healthcare facilities to the people of Sikkim, promoting Ayurveda and traditional medicine.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University at Yangang. This will be a significant milestone for the state, providing a modern and well-equipped campus for students, faculty, and staff.

The state government will present a mega cultural event themed “1000 Steps of Unity,” featuring over 1,500 local artists in the presence of the Prime Minister. This event will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Sikkim, promoting unity and solidarity among the people.
Prior to attending the event at Paljor Stadium, the Prime Minister will visit the Orchidarium located at Ridge Park in Gangtok along with the Chief Minister. This visit will highlight the state's efforts to promote conservation and development of its unique flora and fauna.
