Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav has expressed concerns over his safety, citing life threats that have prompted the government to upgrade his security to the highest Y-Plus category. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will now provide Yadav with protection, following a threat assessment submitted by security agencies to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Yadav made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Patna about his party's prospects in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. The upgrade in security comes after Yadav was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and his family by Lalu Prasad Yadav. He has since launched his own party and is contesting the Bihar assembly election from Mahua constituency. The Mahua seat went to polls in the first phase on November 6, where Yadav faced opposition from NDA candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh and Jan Suraaj’s Indrajeet Pradhan. Yadav's brother, Tejashwi Yadav, fielded a candidate from the RJD, sparking speculation about the family's dynamics. In a recent incident, Yadav was spotted greeting BJP MP Ravi Kishan at Patna airport, which sparked speculation about a possible alliance. However, Yadav clarified that the meeting was purely incidental, describing it as a coincidence. The upgrade in Yadav's security reflects the growing challenges he faces in the Bihar polls. As JJD chief, Yadav is seeking to establish himself as a prominent player in the state's politics, but his safety concerns highlight the risks involved in pursuing a career in politics.
