The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced that it will discuss a proposal by Indian Super League (ISL) clubs to form a consortium to own or operate the top-tier league during its Annual General Meeting on December 20. This move comes as the AIFF and its commercial partner, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), are facing a commercial impasse following the expiration of their Marketing Rights Agreement on December 8. The 12 ISL clubs, including FC Goa, Sporting Club Delhi, and Bengaluru FC, had suggested forming a consortium as a possible solution to the ongoing issue. In a letter to the AIFF, the clubs proposed that they could collectively own or operate the league alongside the federation and aligned investors. The AIFF has agreed to consider the proposal, which will require deliberations and approval by the Executive Committee and the AGM. The federation has also requested that the clubs work towards finding a mutually beneficial solution, with the goal of minimizing any loss of time and ensuring the league's continuity. The proposal comes as the AIFF and FSDL are in a commercial impasse, leaving the top-tier league without a clear framework or operational certainty. The AIFF has assured that it will take all necessary steps to address the concerns raised by the clubs and prospective bidders, while also emphasizing the need for a comprehensive solution that cannot be achieved overnight. The 12 ISL clubs involved in the move are: FC Goa, Sporting Club Delhi, NorthEast United FC, Jamshedpur FC, Bengaluru FC, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Chennaiyin FC, Mumbai City FC, Kerala Blasters, Punjab FC, Odisha FC, and Mohammedan Sporting. The AIFF's AGM is scheduled to take place on December 20, where the proposal will be discussed further.
