In front of Prince William, a lifelong Aston Villa fan, Unai Emery secured his fifth Europa League title with a 3-0 win over Freiburg in Istanbul.

Emery, known as the king of the Europa League, has enjoyed remarkable success in the competition, winning it three years running with Sevilla from 2014-16 and again with Villarreal in 2021.

Aston Villa's victory marked the team's first major trophy in 30 years and its first continental title since lifting the European Cup and Super Cup in 1982.

Two first-half strikes from Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia put Villa into a 2-0 lead, with Morgan Rogers adding a third in the second half.

Freiburg, which was playing in the second division 10 years ago, was outclassed in its first European final.
