A fresh controversy has erupted within the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) as 28 members signed a no-confidence motion against president Ajay Singh during a Special General Meeting (SGM) in Greater Noida. Singh, however, disputed the motion's validity, claiming that many signatories are not actual members and that they had also signed a separate petition expressing confidence in him. The SGM was held despite a Delhi High Court ruling that any decisions made by the BFI's new executive committee should be subject to the court's final verdict. The court case, which has been ongoing since the BFI election, centers around technicalities in the poll process. The no-confidence motion cited 'mala fide and arbitrary conduct' under Singh's leadership, as well as the amendment of the BFI constitution without proper procedure. The Sports Ministry had recently renewed the BFI's recognition, subject to the outcome of the court case. Singh, who was elected president for a third term earlier this year, emphasized the need for the BFI to focus on boxing, particularly the athletes, camps, and upcoming championships. The controversy comes at a time when the BFI is preparing for major international events, and the outcome of the court case may have significant implications for the organization's future.
