In a major push for India's sporting ambitions, the 15th Global Sports Summit, FICCI TURF 2025, got underway at Federation House, bringing together leaders from government, sports, industry, and diplomacy to shape the country's future in sports. The event, themed 'Indian Sports - Forging the Path to Global Excellence,' aims to foster global partnerships and innovation to drive India's sporting progress. Key highlights of the inaugural session included the release of the 'Sporting India Rising' knowledge report and the India-Australia Strategy for Sports Collaboration. The report and strategy emphasize the importance of strengthening global partnerships, particularly with Australia, to leverage opportunities in high-performance systems, coaching, sports science, innovation, and long-term talent pathways. At the summit, PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association, was honored with the FICCI Lifetime Achievement Award for her remarkable contributions to Indian sport and her ability to inspire generations of athletes. In her acceptance speech, Usha emphasized the need for a unified approach to sports development, stating that 'Indian sport rises when we rise together.' Government officials, including Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary of the Department of Sports, and industry leaders, such as PKSV Sagar, Chairman of the FICCI Sports Committee, highlighted the importance of collaboration and collective effort in driving India's sporting progress. The summit's focus on innovation, global partnerships, and athlete-focused ecosystems aims to propel India to a top-ten position in the world by 2036. The FICCI TURF 2025 summit will feature a series of sessions, including a Global Vision for Indian Sports, India-Australia Synergies in Sports Development, and panels on fan engagement, sustainable sports IPs, and India's next Olympic heroes. The event has also attracted participation from officials and experts from various states, further reinforcing India's commitment to developing its sporting infrastructure and talent pipelines.
