India's Elavenil Valarivan Wins Bronze, Ravinder Singh Crowned World Champion in ISSF Championships

In a thrilling display of shooting prowess, Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan secured a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Championships, while veteran marksman Ravinder Singh clinched the top spot in the men's 50m pistol competition. Elavenil, a two-time Olympian, initially seemed poised to take the top podium spot, but a crucial 10.0 score on the 19th shot pushed her to third place. South Korea's Ban Hyojin won the gold with a score of 255, while China's Wang Zifei took the silver with 254. The Indian women's team, comprising Elavenil, Meghana Sajjanar, and Shreya Agrawal, secured the bronze with a combined score of 1893.3. In the men's 50m pistol event, Ravinder Singh, a 29-year-old Naik Subedar in the Indian Army, achieved the biggest success of his shooting career by winning the gold medal. He scored 569 to top the field, ahead of Kim Cheongyong of South Korea and Anton Aristarkhov of the Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) team. India's team, comprising Ravinder, Kamaljeet, and Yogesh Kumar, secured the silver medal with a combined score of 1646. Arjun Babuta finished seventh in the men's 10m air rifle final, while Rudrankksh Patil and Vishal Singh ended up 13th and 61st respectively. The Indian team, comprising Babuta, Rudrankksh, and Vishal, totalled 1891 to finish fourth with China aggregating 1898.4 for a world record. India currently leads the medals table with one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, while China is in the top position with three gold, a silver, and a bronze.
