Actor Kangana Ranaut has spoken out against the objectification of female characters in films, saying that actors should speak up if they feel their portrayal is not respectful. Speaking to PTI, Kangana stated that she has always tried to bring her perspective to the table when agreeing to play a role, and that she believes it is the responsibility of actors to ensure that their characters are not objectified.

In response to the controversy surrounding the film Peddi, which has been criticized for its portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character, Kangana said that she believes that actors can speak up and point out when a scene or character is not being represented respectfully.

Kangana's comments come as the director of Peddi, Buchi Babu Sana, has apologized for the film's portrayal of its female lead, saying that he believes cinema should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected.

Kangana is currently promoting her upcoming film, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, in which she plays a staff nurse who is dedicated to her work and is often overlooked despite her importance.
