Kim Kardashian's ambitious goal to become a licensed attorney in California hit a roadblock over the weekend after she received disappointing news that she had not passed the state's bar exam. Despite her high-profile career as a reality TV star and entrepreneur, Kardashian has been pursuing a law degree through an apprenticeship route for the past six years. The 45-year-old's fascination with law stems from her family's history. Her father, Robert Kardashian, was a well-known attorney who represented OJ Simpson during his 1995 murder trial. Kim has expressed her desire to become a trial lawyer, a career path she hopes to pursue in the next decade. In 2019, Kardashian announced that she was studying law in California through an apprenticeship program, which allows her to qualify for the bar exam without attending a traditional law school. She began her four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm in 2018 and successfully passed the 'baby bar' exam, also known as the First-Year Law Students' Examination, on her fourth attempt in 2021. However, the California bar exam is notorious for being one of the toughest in the United States. The two-day exam consists of essay questions, performance tests, and multiple-choice questions, and even after the passing score was lowered, it remains higher than many other states. According to the State Bar of California, only 54.8 percent of exam takers passed the July 2025 General Bar Examination, and unfortunately, Kardashian was not among them. Undeterred, Kardashian remains committed to her goal, vowing to continue studying and preparing for her next attempt. "No shortcuts, no giving up," she wrote on Instagram. "Just more studying and even more determination." With her unwavering dedication, it's likely that Kardashian will eventually achieve her dream of becoming a licensed attorney.
