The highly anticipated release of Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, has hit a roadblock due to delays in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, a big-budget production, was set to open on January 10, a day after Vijay's Jana Nayagan. According to reports, the uncertainty over certification has caused concern within the Tamil film industry and has impacted theatre bookings. BookMyShow has listed only three theatres in Chennai as selling tickets for the film, all located in the suburbs. Despite the challenges, the film's European distributor, 4Seasons Creations AS, remains optimistic about the release, tweeting that the film will still hit theatres on January 10. The distributor cited an exclusive screening at the Rotterdam film festival as the reason for the Netherlands release cancellation. Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, stars Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, and Sreeleela, and explores themes of social realities and resistance set in the 1960s. The film's promotional events, including a two-day exhibition at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai, have been well-received by audiences. The delay comes after Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film before entering politics, faced last-minute certification and theatre availability issues. Jana Nayagan, a political action drama, has generated nationwide interest and is seen as a prelude to Vijay's entry into active politics.
