A significant victory for the Telugu film industry has been achieved with the arrest of Immadi Ravi, the mastermind behind the notorious piracy website iBomma. The website, responsible for leaking hundreds of movies, including Game Changer, OG, and Kingdom, had caused significant losses to the film industry. A meeting between actors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, filmmaker SS Rajamouli, and producer Dil Raju with the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, VC Sajjanar, highlighted the impact of iBomma on the industry. Chiranjeevi pointed out that films starring his son Ram Charan, brother Pawan Kalyan, and actors Vijay Deverakonda and Naga Chaitanya had suffered due to the website. The police crackdown on iBomma began after a complaint was lodged over the leak of HIT: The Third Case. An investigation revealed that Ravi had stored 21,000 movies on his hard disk and earned over ₹20 crore through piracy. He also collected private data of 50 lakh people using his site. The Hyderabad police have arrested Ravi, who is a native of Visakhapatnam, and five other individuals involved in piracy. This is a significant step towards protecting the Telugu film industry from piracy. The police have shut down 61 piracy mirror websites and seized duplicate IDs and passports. The industry is now looking forward to a safer and more secure future, thanks to the efforts of the Hyderabad police. As filmmaker SS Rajamouli prepares to make a film like Varanasi with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the industry can rest assured that piracy will no longer be a major hurdle.
