Jamario Baker, an 18-year-old student, was tragically killed in a targeted shooting at Fairfield High School after the Sem Yeto Continuation High School graduation.
Baker was shot while wearing his cap and gown, and his mother attempted to save him after he sustained bullet injuries.
According to his great-aunt, Baker died while protecting his 11-year-old sister, a heroic act that has left the community in shock.
The investigation remains active, with no suspects in custody, and the Fairfield Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward.
A makeshift memorial has been set up in Baker's memory, with messages of condolence and grief pouring in from the community.
