Pakistan's Punjab government has closed all public and private educational institutions till March 31 as part of fuel-saving measures to deal with the fallout of the joint US-Israel attacks on Iran.
The closure affects all schools, colleges, and universities, with examinations to be conducted as per the existing schedule. Online classes will be allowed during this period.
Panic buying of petrol and other petroleum products has begun in the country, especially in Punjab, following the impact of the war, which has started affecting oil supplies in Pakistan and other countries.
The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also suspended official fuel allocations for provincial ministers until the petroleum crisis ends and ordered a 50 per cent reduction in petrol and diesel allowances for government officers' vehicles.
The use of protocol vehicles accompanying provincial ministers and senior government officials has been banned, with only one vehicle allowed for essential security purposes.
A work-from-home policy has been implemented in government offices, with only essential staff required to attend offices, and private sector companies are advised to adopt similar policies.
