A 45-year-old woman from Assam has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly using forged embassy number plates to gain access to restricted areas. The plates were used to avoid police checks, allowing her to facilitate meetings between students and embassy officials. According to police, she had purchased the car at an embassy auction in November 2024 but failed to register it in her name. The woman claimed to be a liaison officer and a representative of a foreign embassy, but police found no documents to support her claims. She also stated that she had been involved in various roles, including being a political party secretary, a consultant, and a sports guide, but these claims are yet to be verified. The arrest comes ahead of Republic Day celebrations, with police considering her a threat to national security. Her mobile phone has been seized, and her movements and contacts are being investigated. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including forgery and cheating. The woman, who is a permanent resident of Assam and has three sons, was remanded to judicial custody after being sent to six days of police custody. The police are still verifying her claims and investigating her activities.
