Bihar Election 2020: Record-Breaking Margins as NDA Sweeps 202 Seats

Bihar's 243 assembly constituencies witnessed a dramatic conclusion to the assembly elections, with the NDA securing a resounding victory, winning 202 seats. The Mahagathbandhan, however, was left with 39 seats. The closest contests were in three constituencies, where the winning margin was less than 100 votes. In Sandesh, JD(U) candidate Radha Charan Singh edged out RJD candidate Dipu Singh by just 27 votes. In Agiaon, BJP candidate Mahesh Paswan won by a margin of 95 votes against CPI (ML) L candidate Shiv Prakash Ranjan. The Ramgarh constituency saw a victory margin of 30 votes for BSP candidate Satish Kumar Singh Yadav over BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Singh. Other close contests were recorded in the Nabinagar, Dhaka, and Forbesganj constituencies, where the winning margin was less than 250 votes. JD(U)'s Chetan Anand won Nabinagar by 112 votes, while RJD's Faisal Rahman and Congress' Manoj Bishwas secured victories in Dhaka and Forbesganj, respectively, with margins of 178 and 221 votes. The highest winning margin was recorded in Rupauli, where JD(U) candidate Kalandhar Prasad won by 73,572 votes against RJD candidate Bima Bharti. The Bihar assembly elections, conducted in two phases, saw the BJP emerging victorious in 89 seats, JD(U) winning 85, and RJD securing 25 seats.
