Voting Counting Underway in Kumhrar Constituency: As the counting of votes begins, Jan Suraaj Party's Krishna Chandra Sinha is facing a tough competition from Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay Kumar. According to the ECI website, Sinha has 1094 votes, while Sanjay Kumar leads with 10051 votes. Krishna Chandra Sinha, the Jan Suraaj Party candidate, has a rich academic background. Born in 1954 in Beur village, Kaimur district, Bihar, Sinha topped his state board examinations and went on to study in Patna. Although he missed the prestigious UPSC Civil Service examination, he chose to stay in Bihar and pursue a career in teaching. Sinha has held several key positions, including vice-chancellor of Patna University and Nalanda Open University. The Kumhrar constituency, part of the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, has been a BJP stronghold for nearly four decades. Former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi won the election three times from this seat. In the 2020 assembly election, Sinha defeated RJD's Dharamendra Kumar by a margin of over 26,000 votes. However, this time, the seat is witnessing a triangular contest between the BJP, Mahagathbandhan, and Jan Suraaj. The constituency has a diverse voter base, with prominent presence of Yadav, Rajput, Kayastha, Koeri, Kurmi, Bhumihar, Muslim, and Brahmin voters. Two key issues in Kumhrar are the recurring problem of waterlogging during the monsoon and the need for better traffic management to ease congestion. The candidates vying for the Kumhrar seat include Jan Suraaj Party's Krishna Chandra Sinha, BJP's Sanjay Gupta, and Congress's Indradeep Chandravanshi. Sanjay Gupta, a Viahsya businessman, has strong roots in the city's trading community. The Congress has named Chandravanshi, a Kushwaha OBC leader, who is the sitting councillor from Ward 48 of the Bihar capital.
