In a controversy surrounding Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Shambhavi Chaudhary, the Patna district administration has clarified that the ink marks on both her index fingers were a result of a polling staff's mistake. The incident occurred on November 6, during the first phase of Bihar assembly elections. According to the administration, the polling staff mistakenly applied ink to Chaudhary's right index finger. After being intervened by the Presiding Officer, ink was also applied to her left index finger. Chaudhary had cast her vote at Serial No. 275 of the voter list of Polling Station No. 61, Sant Paul's Primary School, Buddha Colony. The controversy sparked after Kanchana Yadav, RJD's National Spokesperson, accused Chaudhary of voter fraud, suggesting that she had voted twice. However, Chaudhary maintained that it was a 'human error' and not an issue worth debating. The first phase of the Bihar assembly elections on November 6 recorded a turnout of 65.08%. The CEO of Bihar stated that the election was successfully conducted across 121 seats in 18 districts of the state, with a 7.79% increase in voter turnout compared to the 2020 Bihar Assembly General Elections and an 8.8% increase compared to the 2024 Lok Sabha General Elections.
