In a shocking incident, mock slips from Voting Machines were discovered scattered on a road in Bihar's Samastipur district, sparking concerns about election integrity. The Election Commission quickly responded by directing the District Magistrate to investigate and suspending an Assistant Returning Officer for negligence. The incident occurred in the Sarairanjan assembly constituency, where Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders claimed a large number of VVPAT slips were found on the road near KSR College. The party questioned the Election Commission's handling of the situation, asking how and why the slips were discarded. RJD MP Manoj K Jha wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner, urging enhanced security measures for strong rooms where Electronic Voting Machines are stored, citing concerns about power disruptions. In response, the District Magistrate, Roshan Kushwaha, confirmed that his team retrieved the VVPAT slips and lodged an FIR, recommending a departmental inquiry into the incident. The Election Commission's swift action aims to restore confidence in the electoral process, but the RJD's allegations have raised questions about the security and transparency of the voting system in Bihar.
