In a surprise twist, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) led by Prashant Kishor has lost its lead in two key constituencies - Chainpur and Kargahar - in the ongoing Bihar assembly election 2025. Despite early trends suggesting a strong performance, the party's fortunes took a turn for the worse as counting continued on Friday. According to Pvalue, the JSP was initially ahead in these two seats, sparking hopes that it might defy exit poll predictions. However, the party's momentum was short-lived, and it eventually lost its leads. The Bihar assembly election 2025 has been closely contested between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor's JSP was seen as a potential 'kingmaker,' but most exit polls suggested that it would draw a blank in the election. As the counting of votes continues, early trends indicate a strong performance by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United) JD(U). The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress are also making gains. Exit polls had predicted a dismal performance for the JSP, with most forecasting fewer than five seats for the party. The Peoples Pulse predicted 0-5 seats, while the People's Insight and Matrize predicted 0-2 seats each. The JVC and Dainik Bhaskar forecast a maximum of one and three seats, respectively. The JSP, which contested all 243 seats in the Bihar assembly election, had positioned itself as a third alternative in the state's politics, dominated by the two rival camps.
