The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) secured the highest vote share in Bihar's state assembly elections, winning 25 seats out of 143 constituencies it contested. Despite this, the party's vote share dipped slightly to 23% from 23.11% in the previous elections. The BJP, on the other hand, saw its vote share rise to 20.07% from 19.46% in 2020, while contesting 101 seats compared to 110 in the last polls. The vote share is a measure of the percentage of total votes a party receives in an election. A higher vote share indicates a party's popularity among the electorate, but may not necessarily translate to more seats if the votes are spread thin across multiple constituencies. In this case, the RJD's higher vote share suggests that the party may have lost some close contests or underperformed in certain areas. The party contested 144 seats, compared to the BJP's 101 and the Janata Dal (United)'s 101, which may have contributed to its higher vote share. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide victory, winning 202 seats in the assembly. The BJP was the largest contributor, winning 89 seats, followed by the JDU with 85. The RJD's allies in the Mahagathbandhan alliance also struggled, with the Congress winning just six seats and the CPI(ML)L winning two. The total number of seats won by the Mahagathbandhan was 35. The Bihar election results raise questions about the effectiveness of the RJD's strategy and its ability to translate votes into seats. As the party looks to regroup and reassess its approach, the BJP and its allies will be looking to build on their momentum and solidify their position in the state.
