Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to resign on November 19, clearing the way for a new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, likely to be led by him for the 10th time. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for November 20 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries in attendance. While there is no official confirmation on Nitish Kumar's return as Chief Minister, sources suggest that he may be re-elected to the post. The NDA, comprising the BJP and JD(U), is expected to form a new cabinet, with possible "surprise elements" to bring in a fresh look. The current Bihar assembly's term ends on November 22, and the new 18th assembly is likely to be constituted before the deadline. The NDA secured a massive majority in the recent assembly elections, winning 202 seats, while the opposition Mahagathbandhan was restricted to 35 seats. Key meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, including the legislature party meetings of the BJP and JD(U), which may reveal more about the new government's composition. The BJP and JD(U) are reportedly eyeing the home portfolio, which was previously held by the JD(U), while negotiations for key portfolios and the Speaker's position are ongoing. The new government is expected to be formed with a balanced representation of youth and experience, adhering to the social equation. The Constitution limits the size of a state cabinet to 15% of the total assembly strength, allowing for a maximum of 36 ministers, including the Chief Minister.
