The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a resounding victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls, winning 202 out of 243 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by its ally Janata Dal (United) with 85 seats. Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party also won 19 seats, solidifying the NDA's grip on Bihar's politics. As the NDA prepares to form the next government, all eyes are on the power-sharing formula and ministerial appointments. Leaders within the alliance anticipate a government formation within two to three days. The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its Mahagathbandhan ally Congress could only manage 25 and six seats, respectively, with a combined tally of 35 seats. In a shocking turn of events, Lalu Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya announced her departure from politics, citing mistreatment by Tejashwi Yadav's close associates. She alleged being subjected to abuse and physical intimidation during altercations with RJD leaders Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. Rohini's decision to quit politics has left the RJD reeling. As the NDA charts its course, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) supremo Jitan Ram Manjhi and Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha met with BJP's Bihar election in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss their parties' roles in the upcoming state cabinet. CPI(M-L) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya has called for a thorough review of the election results, citing the unprecedented nature of the outcome. The NDA's landslide victory has set the stage for a new government in Bihar, with Nitish Kumar's resignation paving the way for a fresh start. The BJP is expected to take the reins, with key ministerial appointments to follow in the coming days.
