A controversy erupted in Bihar after LJP MP Shambhavi Chaudhary was seen with ink marks on both her index fingers after casting her vote in the first phase of the assembly elections on November 6. However, the Patna district administration has clarified that the incident was a result of human error by the polling staff. According to the administration, the polling staff mistakenly applied ink to the wrong finger, and only after the intervention of the Presiding Officer was ink applied to the left hand as well. The administration has confirmed that Chaudhary cast her vote at Serial No. 275 of the voter list of Polling Station No. 61, Sant Paul's Primary School, Buddha Colony. The incident sparked allegations of voter fraud, with RJD's National Spokesperson Kanchana Yadav claiming that Chaudhary had voted twice. However, Chaudhary maintained that it was a 'human error' and not a serious issue. The incident has raised questions about the efficiency of the polling staff and the need for stricter measures to prevent such errors. The Bihar assembly elections saw a turnout of 65.08% in the first phase, with the CEO of Bihar stating that this year's election saw a 7.79% increase in voter turnout compared to the 2020 Bihar Assembly General Elections and an 8.8% increase compared to the 2024 Lok Sabha General Elections.
