RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has secured a landslide victory in Bihar's Raghopur assembly seat, defeating BJP's Satish Kumar by a margin of 14,532 votes. With 1,18,597 votes, Tejashwi has now held the seat for a decade, having won it in 2015, 2020, and 2025. However, the victory comes as a bitter pill for Tejashwi, as his party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), suffered a major setback in the Bihar assembly polls. Despite being the most preferred choice for Chief Minister, according to exit polls, the RJD managed to win only 25 seats out of 143, its weakest performance in recent elections. The NDA alliance, on the other hand, claimed a landslide victory, winning 202 seats in the 243-member assembly. While the RJD secured the highest vote share at 23%, the party's performance has raised questions about Tejashwi's leadership. The 'preferred CM' survey by Axis My India and Peoples Pulse revealed that Tejashwi was the most popular choice for Chief Minister, with a preference rate of 34% and 32% respectively. However, the survey results contrast sharply with the party's poor performance in the polls. The Bihar assembly elections saw a historic high voter turnout of 66.91%, with 65.08% and 68.76% recorded in the first and second phases respectively. The outcome of the polls has left many wondering about the disconnect between public opinion and the party's performance in the elections.
