The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended former Union Minister R.K. Singh and MLC Ashok Agarwal from the party, one day after emerging as the single largest party in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls. The party won 89 seats in the election. The suspension comes after allegations of anti-party activities by Singh, a former BJP MP from Arrah, and Agarwal. A letter announcing the suspension cited continued cross-party rhetoric by the leaders, stating that it was necessary to maintain discipline within the organization. According to sources, Singh faced complaints of making allegations against his own party leaders, including sharing a post on Facebook urging voters not to vote for leaders with criminal backgrounds. This included several NDA candidates, such as JD(U)'s Anant Singh and BJP's Samrat Choudhary, who is Bihar's deputy chief minister. The suspension letter, shared by news agency ANI, stated that Singh's activities were against the party and in violation of party discipline. The party has given Singh and Agarwal a week to clarify their position and submit their replies. The move has sparked reactions from other parties, with the INDIA bloc allies calling the NDA's sweep in Bihar 'unfair'. The BJP's decision to suspend Singh and Agarwal is seen as a significant development in the party's efforts to maintain discipline and unity in the wake of the election results.
