New Delhi: A devastating blast near the historic Red Fort in Delhi has left 12 people dead and many injured, prompting prominent Muslim leaders to express deep concern over security lapses. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind have urged the government to conduct a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the incident. The blast occurred on Monday evening, and preliminary reports suggest it may have been an act of terrorism. If confirmed, it would be a serious blow to India's national security. Muslim leaders have condemned the incident and demanded immediate accountability for security lapses and adequate compensation for the victims and their families. The government has handed over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is investigating the incident as a possible terror attack. The authorities have identified a suspect, Dr. Umar Nabi, who is believed to have died in the blast. His DNA sample has been taken to establish a connection with the blast site. The Red Fort blast comes just hours after a "white collar" terror module was busted in Faridabad, involving the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The module had links to Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, and 2,900 kg of explosives were seized. Muslim leaders have called for a thorough, transparent, and time-bound probe into the incident, ensuring that all evidence is examined impartially and the findings are made public. They have also demanded strong punishment for the culprits and accountability from those responsible for security lapses at the highest levels. In a statement, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind president Syed Sadatullah Husaini said, "We stand with the people of Delhi in this hour of grief and anguish. Such an incident in the heart of the national capital represents a grave lapse in security. There must be immediate accountability from those in power, who are responsible for public safety.
