A devastating blast occurred at the Nowgam police station in Srinagar, killing four people and injuring 27 others, mostly police personnel and forensic officials. The explosion happened while a team was handling explosive materials seized from a Faridabad residence in connection with a 'white-collar' terror module case. The explosive materials, weighing 360 kilograms, were recovered from the rented residence of arrested doctor Muzammil Ganaie. As part of the ongoing investigation, the team was extracting samples from the materials when the blast occurred. The incident took place on Friday night and damaged the police station building. Four bodies were retrieved from the scene, but their identities remain unknown. At least 24 police personnel and three civilians were admitted to various hospitals in the city. The blast was so massive that it prevented immediate rescue operations by the bomb disposal squad. The Srinagar police had registered a case in October after posters threatening police and security forces appeared in the city. The investigation led to the arrest of several individuals, including doctors and a former paramedic, who are believed to have been part of a terror module. The seized materials included ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulphur, which were stored at the police station. The investigation is ongoing, and officials believe that the terror module was run by a core group of doctors. The role of the eighth arrested person, the brother of one of the absconding suspects, is still under investigation.
