The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been authorized to take over the investigation into the Odisha police recruitment paper leak case. The Department of Personnel and Training issued a notification on Tuesday, allowing the CBI to investigate and supervise the case. The scam was uncovered on September 30 when the Berhampur police in Odisha busted a question paper leak racket. Three air-conditioned buses carrying 117 people were stopped near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, leading to the arrest of 121 individuals, including 114 candidates. The investigation revealed that the Odisha Police Recruitment Board had outsourced the exam to ITI Limited, which in turn contracted Silicon Techlab Private Limited in Bhubaneswar. The company further subcontracted the work to Panchsoft Technologies Private Limited, a Bhubaneswar-based IT firm led by Shankar Prusty. According to the state police, Prusty worked with Muna Mohanty to leak the question papers, which were allegedly priced at ₹20-25 lakh. The scam led to the cancellation of the police sub-inspector recruitment exam, which was scheduled to be held in the first week of October for the recruitment of 933 police sub-inspectors. The CBI will now lodge a First Information Report (FIR) and begin its investigation into the case. The state CID had initially registered a case on September 30, but the CBI has now taken over the probe, bringing new hope for justice to be served in this high-profile case.
