A 60-year-old farmer in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district was beaten with sticks and run over by a tractor during a dispute over agricultural land, leading to his death.

The incident occurred in Pathrai village, and eight accused, including two women, have been arrested.

The main accused, Bajrang Paikra, is a relative of the victim, Hosram Paikra, and the dispute centered around 6.30 acres of farmland owned by Kameshwari.

A revenue court initially ruled in favour of Hosram, but the decision was overturned by the Sub Divisional Magistrate court, intensifying tensions between the two families.

According to preliminary information, Bajrang's family had gone to the disputed field to plough and sow crops when Hosram reached there to stop the work, leading to a violent clash.

The accused allegedly assaulted Hosram with sticks and ran a tractor over him, resulting in his death.

Police have seized the tractor allegedly used in the crime and are recording statements of family members and the accused.
