In a significant development, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan met with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday to extend his congratulations on the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) resounding victory in the state assembly polls. Paswan, who took to the social media platform X to express his sentiments, said he wished to congratulate Kumar on the NDA's impressive majority. As per the election results, the NDA secured a sweeping majority with 202 seats, leaving the opposition Mahagathbandhan in the shadows. Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas) emerged as the fourth-largest party in the 2025 assembly election results, with the party winning 19 seats. During the meeting, Paswan told reporters that he had congratulated Kumar and expressed happiness over the NDA's performance. Kumar reportedly appreciated the role of every alliance partner in the NDA, according to news agency ANI. In a veiled attack on the opposition, Paswan stated that the JD(U) candidate he supported in his constituency, Alauli, had won, dispelling the false narrative created by the opposition regarding the JD(U) and LJP(RV) alliance. The meeting between Paswan and Kumar comes amid speculation over whether Kumar will retain the Chief Minister's post or not. Earlier, Paswan had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted him with responsibilities at the Centre, but he had ruled out taking the deputy CM post. However, he had hinted that a leader from his party might assume the deputy CM post if they won. Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar since 2000 and has led the state through multiple coalitions, often switching alliances between the BJP and RJD. The NDA's landslide win in the polls has raised questions about Kumar's future as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
