The Indian National Congress party has expressed concerns over the Election Commission's conduct in the recent Bihar assembly polls, which saw the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secure a landslide victory. According to Congress leader Pawan Khera, the outcome suggests that the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, has been biased in favor of the ruling party. Khera drew a parallel between the Election Commission's actions and the book 'To Serve with Love,' implying that Kumar is now writing a new chapter in favor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also acknowledged the bravery of voters in Bihar, who, despite alleged vote manipulation and voter roll irregularities, showed immense courage by exercising their franchise. Congress leader Udit Raj has specifically targeted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, claiming that it was instrumental in the NDA's victory. Raj has consistently raised concerns over the SIR process, but the Election Commission has maintained that it received no objections. In contrast, EC officials have praised the exercise, describing it as the 'Best ever performance by CEC Gyanesh Kumar and ECI in any elections so far.' The Commission also pointed to the record turnout numbers, claiming there were 'Zero appeals in SIR.' The Congress party has vowed to seek answers from the Election Commission and will continue to protest against the SIR process.
