Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has come to the defense of Rahul Gandhi, who has been facing criticism for his comments on the Election Commission of India. Choudhary emphasized that Rahul Gandhi's views are aimed at protecting the right to vote nationwide and have no intention of tarnishing the institution. In a sharp counterattack, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused Rahul Gandhi of having a 'part-time' interest in Indian politics and using it to fund his foreign travels. Chandrasekhar claimed that Rahul Gandhi's priorities lie outside of India and that he only cares about himself and his family. Earlier, over 270 eminent citizens, including 16 judges, 123 retired bureaucrats, and 133 retired armed forces officers, signed an open letter condemning Rahul Gandhi's repeated attacks on the Election Commission. The letter called on citizens to stand with the Election Commission and urged politicians to stop undermining the institution with baseless allegations. Choudhary stressed that leaders have the right to express their views, and that Rahul Gandhi's comments should not be treated as sacrosanct. He also pointed out that judges, like any other individuals, have their own opinions and perspectives. The Congress leader maintained that Rahul Gandhi's views are pertinent and aimed at protecting the democratic process, rather than undermining the Election Commission.
