In a significant victory for the Congress party, candidate Vallala Naveen Yadav won the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency by-election in Hyderabad by a whopping margin of 24,729 votes. The by-election was necessitated by the death of the previous BRS MLA, Maganti Gopinath, in June this year. Naveen Yadav secured 98,988 votes, surpassing his nearest rival Maganti Sunitha of BRS, who polled 74,259 votes. The BJP candidate, Lankala Deepak Reddy, trailed behind with 17,061 votes, losing his deposit. The Jubilee Hills constituency witnessed a low voter turnout of 48.42% during the polling on November 11, with a total of 4.01 lakh voters exercising their franchise. Scenes of jubilation broke out at the Congress office as party workers celebrated the victory, with firecrackers lighting up the night sky. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy hailed the victory as a testament to the people's faith in the Congress government, which is focused on welfare and developmental programs in Hyderabad. He urged BRS and BJP leaders to introspect and cooperate with the government, rather than resorting to mudslinging on social media. Naveen Yadav, the newly elected MLA, thanked the people of Jubilee Hills for their support and vowed to fulfill their aspirations. He credited the Congress party's efforts in championing the cause of 42% OBC reservations, which he believes resonated with the voters. The BRS working president, KT Rama Rao, acknowledged the Congress's victory but emphasized that the by-election has established that BRS is the only alternative to the Congress in Telangana. He thanked party workers and voters for their support and vowed to continue holding the Congress accountable for its failures. Naveen Yadav's victory is significant, as he is a prominent leader from the Yadav community and has been involved in various social welfare initiatives, including skill development and employment training programs for youth. His win is seen as a boost for the Congress party, which has been championing the cause of OBC reservations and has secured the support of the AIMIM in this by-election.
