Bengaluru police have cracked down on a massive counterfeit ghee racket, exposing a network that produced and sold adulterated ghee in fake packets of Karnataka milk federation's Nandini brand. The operation, led by the central crime branch (CCB), special investigation squad, and KMF vigilance wing, resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 8,136 litres of adulterated ghee, ₹1.19 lakh in cash, and four goods vehicles. According to police officials, the network produced adulterated ghee in Tamil Nadu and filled it into fake Nandini sachets and plastic bottles before selling them across Bengaluru. The forgery was made possible by the accused holding official KMF licenses, which allowed them to distribute the adulterated ghee to various wholesale and retail shops and Nandini parlours at the actual market price. The crackdown began with a joint raid on the godowns, shops, and goods vehicles belonging to Krishna Enterprises in Nanjamba Agrahara, Chamarajpet. A vehicle transporting adulterated ghee was seized, and the driver was arrested. Further investigation is underway, with a case registered at the CCB special investigation division. The total value of the seized property is approximately ₹1.27 crore, making this a significant haul for the Bengaluru police. The operation highlights the need for vigilance in the dairy industry, where the demand for authentic products like Nandini ghee is high. The police's efforts to track down the network and bring them to justice demonstrate their commitment to protecting consumers and upholding the law.
