Delhi's Air Quality Crisis Continues: What's Allowed, What's Not The national capital is struggling to breathe, with the air quality index (AQI) remaining in the 'very poor' category for the past week. To tackle the deteriorating situation, the government has introduced several measures to reduce pollution. Key Restrictions: - Non-Delhi registered BS-III and below-standard commercial goods vehicles are no longer allowed to enter the city, starting November 1. - Vehicles not meeting BS-IV standards will be denied entry, including Light Goods Vehicles, Medium Goods Vehicles, and Heavy Goods Vehicles. New Timings to Ease Traffic: - The Delhi government and the Delhi Municipal Corporation have changed their working hours to prevent a massive influx of vehicles on the roads. - The offices of the Delhi government will now operate from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, while the Delhi Municipal Corporation will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, creating a more manageable gap between the two. CM's Appeal: - Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged citizens to opt for carpooling and use public transport like metros more frequently to reduce emissions. - She has also recommended private firms to adopt work-from-home arrangements due to the poor air quality. Parking Fees Hike: - The New Delhi Municipal Corporation has doubled parking fees at its managed sites across the New Delhi area. - The revised rates are ₹40 per hour for four-wheelers, ₹20 per hour for two-wheelers, and ₹300 per hour for buses. The government's efforts aim to reduce vehicular emissions and improve the air quality in the national capital. By following these restrictions and guidelines, citizens can contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
