Delhi Chokes: 22 Stations Record 'Severe' Air Quality, Worst Polluted Areas Revealed

Delhi continued to struggle with poor air quality on Sunday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 391, classified as 'very poor', according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).The city's 22 monitoring stations reported 'severe' air quality, while 12 stations recorded 'very poor' air quality, with readings above 300. Since Diwali, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have witnessed AQI in the 'poor' and 'very poor' ranges despite Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) being in effect.However, authorities have not yet implemented GRAP Stage III, which includes stricter measures to curb pollution.The best AQI in Delhi was recorded at 198 by NSIT Dwarka, the only location to report an AQI below 200. Other relatively cleaner areas included IHBAS (263), Dilshad Garden (263), and Lodhi Road (307), all in the 'poor' range.The worst AQI was reported from Bawana (438), followed by Jahangirpuri (436) and Rohini (435). Other areas in the 'severe' category included Nehru Nagar (425), Patparganj (424), RK Puram (423), and Vivek Vihar (423).Several localities, including Punjabi Bagh (415), Ashok Vihar (415), and Sonia Vihar (415), recorded AQI above 400.The complete AQI list shows that areas like Noida and Ghaziabad also struggled with poor air quality, with Noida recording its poorest October air quality in five years, averaging 236. Ghaziabad's average AQI for October was 227, higher than its past four-year range.
